About Tembeza
“Tembeza”is an expression that originates from the African Swahili and roughly translated means “Walk with me”
We would like to invite you to take a walk on our website.
Before you take your walk, you might like to know a little bit more about us.
Our “pack” consists of 2 adults, 2 children and 4 dogs. Living in Ermelo, we walk daily through the beautiful forests and the expansive heather fields with our 2 Rhodesian Ridgebacks and 2 Miniature Schnautzers.
An old African legend describes the Rhodesian Ridgeback as a dog with a drop of lion’s blood.
The truth of this legend is recognizeable daily in the behaviour of our 2 Ridgeback bitches Jua and Nzuri.
In the forest or on the heather fields, they show boundless energy and indulge all their senses. Inside the house they spend most of their time sleeping.
There are countless other characteristics of the Rhodesian Ridgeback that keep us so enthusiastic about this fascinating breed.
It is not only the personality traits of our (and other people’s) Rhodesian Ridgebacks that fascinate us, but also their physical attributes.
When Jua, in 2003 during the ‘Winnershow’ in Amsterdam, was proclaimed ‘Youth Winner’, she also received from other judges the predicate “Excellent”. We were told that she was considered a beautiful addition to the breed, we considered breeding her.
In preparation for this, one of us took the Kynological Knowledge course. In 2006, we were given the Kennel registration by the Board.
Tembeza is a member of the RRCN (Rhodesian Ridgeback Club Netherlands) as an approved breeder. We conform to the Code of Ethics that sets the health standards for the animals we breed and their offspring.
The Tembeza Kennel was now ready to welcome Jua’s offspring. Jua is now an experienced mother; she has given birth to two litters with a total of 16 puppies that display many of her excellent characteristics.
We value a good start and that is why the puppies, as a vital part of their early socialization, are born and raised in our family circle until they are ready to go to their new owners.
Through the links on this website you can see pictures and videos of Jua and her offspring.
